Satellite seminars planned by PTK
IV Leader Staff
IVCC’s Phi Theta Kappa group will sponsor several programs for its 2006 Honors Satellite Seminar Series this semester. Students will have the opportunity to select from several different topics that are being presented including “The Iraq War and Its Consequences in the Middle East” on Tuesday, Oct. 10, “Money Talks: Lobbyists and the Power of Money in Washington” on Tuesday, Oct. 24 and “Lessons Learned from my Grandfather” on Tuesday, Nov.14.
All of these programs will be presented through the use of satellite and presented by experts about “the global struggle for power.”
Students will have the opportunity to ask the presenters questions via email or by telephone and several IVCC faculty members will be present to initiate discussion of the ideas after each session is over.
Each seminar will begin at 6:30 p.m. in Room B312 and will last about an hour, followed by discussion. The first seminar, “Gender and Power in Relationships,” was completed on Sept. 26 and the discussion led by English instructor Kimberley Radek.
Other faculty members who will lead discussion during the semester include Jeff Fesperman on Oct. 10 and Amanda Bigelow on Oct. 24.
