 Foundation Scholarship Winners Recognized

With ninety donors and almost two-hundred recipients, this years Foundation Scholarship Recognition Dinner went off without a hitch. Held at Grand Bear Lodge on Sept. 21, students, donors, and IVCC administration crammed into the ballroom to recognize the achievements of the students and to thank the generous donors.

The evening began with IVCC Foundation President O.J. Stoutner welcoming everyone and introducing the guest speaker, an IVCC alumni and donor, Patrick Brester. Brester talked about the importance of desire when separating the mediocre and the distinguished and how the scholarship recipients were already succeeding with their efforts in academics. After Brester’s speech, Stoutner announced that it was time to eat and everyone filled there plates and visited with the donors and recipients.

The last speaker of the night was IVCC President Larry Huffman. Huffman’s speech was short but to the point. He spoke about the importance of developing oneself in career and school, but that developing one’s character and interactions with others was the most important and the most beneficial in the end. Huffman expressed his thanks to the Foundation and the donors for their much needed contributions to the students of IVCC and expressed his enjoyment for attending events for the students. IVCC Foundation scholarships are awarded annually based on academic success, financial need, and merit and can be picked up in the foundation office in January for the 2007-2008 academic year.
