Join River Currents for publication
By Andrew West
IV Leader Staff
Want to see your work published in IVCC’s literary magazine, River Currents?
Any student writers, artists and photographers interested should submit their art, non-fiction, fiction, poetry, or screen-play material by Friday, Oct. 27 to creative writing instructor Yelena Kajevic.
All submissions should include the student’s full-name, home address, e-mail address and phone number on the back side of each submission.
River Currents will host its first meeting of the fall semester on Thursday, Oct. 5 at 3:30 p.m. Published annually, River Currents contains short stories, poems, essays, novel excerpts, scripts and artwork. River Currents staff members help choose submissions for publication.
The staff also helps layout the magazine, which involves everything from choosing and scanning pieces of artwork to proofreading and helping with page design. River Currents staff also sponsors several campus activities and fundraisers. One of these activities is usually an open mic session that allows students to read their work before an audience.
The staff also determines which kinds of fundraisers will be held. Submissions should be typed in a legible font (size 12) and be stapled, paper clipped or in a folder.
A copy of the work also should be submitted on disk in Microsoft Word. Students will be notified by the end of March as to whether or not a piece has been accepted for publication. For more information, contact Kajevic at yelena_kajevic@ivcc.edu or stop by her office at B325a.
