Editorial: Future cost of politics?

Last time we met, I was discussing the changing of the
seasons and everything that goes with it - from football to politics.
I had no idea that the political races would become prolific
and so dirty. I'm glad it’s over now! Ads had populated the morning and evening
airwaves, on all the channels.
They have even defiled the sanctity of Monday Night Football!
I have many favorite mud-slinging ads but the best have to
come from the right. Personally, the attacks of “amnesty for illegal immigrants”
and “they are going to raise your taxes” are my favorite “I can’t believe they
just said that!”
The ads rank right up there with pundits claiming that the
Democrats don’t have a plan for Iraq. Last time I checked, the commander in
chief, GWB was responsible for that “mission.”
Does anyone really think that if the Dems control one or both
houses that GWB will start to listen to them?
At best, we will have a bland, future two years with fingers
waving between all branches of government (yes, the judicial branch is tired of
seeing the Congress kow-tow to the executive.)
We have already started to speculate on the future
presidential Democratic candidate(s) but to me it’s a thinly veiled,
fund-raising scheme.
If the future presidential election is going to be the same
as this one x2, then what kind of country are we?
The kind that cares about its citizens future and well-being,
or the competitive win-at-all costs?
