Are you thinking of transferring to a university or
another college? Have you considered which colleges have the best programs for
your choice in career?
Every year, IVCC offers College Night for IVCC students, high
school students, parents, or anyone else interested. Over 50 colleges attended
Oct. 24 in the gym, and it was a chance for students to ask representatives
questions about certain programs their college offers.
Kayla Daugherty, a student ambassador present at College
Night, explains, “It was a success. We had a lot of colleges and a great turn
out.” Such colleges as Illinois State University, Illinois Wesleyan University,
Joliet Junior College, Eureka College, Columbia College Chicago, University of
Illinois, and many others were there.
IVCC even had tables set up discussing Nursing and possible
programs of interest. Pamphlets, free pens, open house information and candy
were available. If you were not able to attend this year, there will be another
chance to go next year.
Also, if you have any questions, you may contact student
ambassadors who were present that night. Another tip from the night is
FastWeb.com.
This Web site offers helpful information about programs of
study, fees, policies and requirements a college maintains.
Many representatives stress that it is important for a
student to contact the college if the student has any questions—“Do not
hesitate. We’re here to help,” explained the representative from Illinois
Wesleyan University.
Students with questions about transferring can contact
counselors of the school of their choice or transfer coordinators in IVCC’s
counseling center.
