Gifts sought for annual Giving Tree

Beginning on Nov. 14, students, faculty and visitors to
Illinois Valley Community College will have a chance to share some holiday
spirit with residents of local area long-term care facilities.
IVCC’s Student Nursing Association is taking part in the 2006
Giving Tree, which will be decorated and full of ornaments with wishes from
residents of seven area facilities, as well as one children’s institution.
Second-year nursing students Carol Abell and Kim Lamps are
coordinating this year’s Giving Tree as part of a management project for their
Nursing 2200 Management class.
“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to be a part of such
a huge success here at IVCC,” said Lamps. “Our goal is to collect 160 gifts to
distribute this Christmas season. It is the main reason why we wanted to get the
tree up as early as possible.”
Gift requests include sweaters, slippers, books, snacks, card
games and other smaller ticket items. For anyone wishing to participate, visit
the tree outside the Nursing Office at Room A-217 and select an ornament.
Return the requested wrapped gift along with the ornament to
the collection box outside the nursing office by Monday, Dec. 4 .
