Rockettes featured in Christmas Spectacular

On Nov. 22, I had the pleasure of going to Chicago to see
the famous Christmas Spectacular featuring the Rockettes.
Unfortunately, my high standards were not completely met. At
the beginning, the music was so loud that I could hardly understand what they
were singing.
Also, the famous Rockettes had simpler choreography than most
high school dance squads that I have seen or been on.
The Rockettes only did 300 hundreds kicks in two hours, which
is hardly anything. And for such a small amount of kicks, one would figure that
they would be good kicks; yet again, I was wrong.
Their kicks were only middle kicks, which are just as high as
the waist; and they were uneven. For being known for kicks, the Rockettes sure
were not very good at them.
However, to make up for their kicks, the famous wooden
soldiers routine was excellent! It had a beautiful dream sequence, along with a
superior Christmas in New York routine.
The rag dolls were cute and there was an outstanding dance
duet. The Wonderland at the end was gorgeous and the Living Nativity scene lived
up to all the good rumors I had previously heard about it. Mrs. Claus was a
sight to see and put a smile on everyone’s face.
If I had seen this closer to Christmas I believe that I would
have liked it more. However, it was still very good and it got me to have more
of a holiday spirit.
As Santa said, “You have got to love Christmas: the one thing
you never outgrow.” So I wish everyone happy holidays and hope that you all have
a safe and fun winter break!
