A trip back in time: Show depicts Christmas in the 1880s

   IV Leader, Dec 7, 2006

Illinois Valley Community College’s Music and Theatre Department will hold its Victorian Holiday Celebration this year at both the Reddick Mansion in Ottawa and the Hegeler Carus Mansion in La Salle.
These winter holiday settings will depict how guests celebrated in the late 1880s with songs, costumes and characters that lived during that time.
Both mansions have been decorated and portrayed as though the actual owners still live there, so the community can meet the Reddick’s and Hegeler’s who occupied these historic Illinois Valley residences.
    Performances at the Hegeler Carus Mansion will be Thursday, Dec. 7 at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., Friday, Dec. 8 at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 9 at 4 p.m., 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 10 at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Shows at Reddick Mansion were Dec. 1-3.
Approximately 30 IVCC students and residents of the IVCC district will perform in this winter chorale concert.
Performers include Jennifer Wallin, Amanda Sedlock, Becky Martin, Kara Kozlowski, Melissa Burgett, Robert Gibson, Robert Calhan, Michael Lewis, Bijan roumi, Steve Kwiateck, Maridith Donahue, Rae Lathrop, Mary Heitmann, Melissa Taylor, Heather Von Newmann, Renee Lapa, and Karen Zavada.
