School spirit will be the main attraction at this years Sprit
Day, planned for Wednesday, Sept. 21. The annual event promises to brings
students out of the classroom and on to the front lawn for fun, free food and
games.
Any IVCC student interested can attend the Student Government
Association sponsored Spirit Day from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 21.
The event will take place at the IVCC campus on the grass just east of the
circle drive.
“Spirit Day was awesome,” said current IVCC student Maggie
Rhynes who attended last year’s festivities. “Anything with free food is good
with me.”
Scheduled attractions include a mechanical bull, wax hands,
inflatable obstacle course, caricature artist, temporary tattoos, Orbitron, and
a dunk tank. A DJ will be present for musical entertainment with free pizza,
cookies, and drinks offered. Other events will be sponsored by clubs,
organizations, and departments throughout the day as well.
“We hope that everyone will get involved in Spirit Day,”
stated Cory Tomasson, Coordinator of Student Activities.
“In the past, most of the clubs and organizations, as well as
many college departments have been involved in the event. It is a day to have
fun, raise awareness about the college’s offerings, and raise funds for
organizations. We are hoping to have our largest turn-out ever.”
