With the resignation of familiar faces in Project Success,
the organization welcomes Stephanie Rue, who is filling the shoes of counselor
Meg Kowalczyk.
Rue also will advise other Project Success students until a
replacement has been found for Wendi Weiden, who has also resigned.
Rue comes to IVCC from the Bloomington- Normal area, where
she is a recent graduate of ISU (May 2005). During her time at ISU, she obtained
a bachelor’s in social work and a master’s in education of college student
personnel administration.
She also brings over six years of experience in academic and
career advising to the Project Success organization. While in Bloomington, she
was the senior case manager for Career Link, which are The Dislocated Worker and
BEST programs combined. She also was the vice president and president of the
Human Service Council in McLean County.
Originally, Rue hales from Peru and is glad to be home after
15 years. Although new to Project Success, she has been at IVCC since last
January, teaching Job Seeking Skills (SDT 1203). She also has two younger
brothers who have attended IVCC; Marty is a current student and Joe has
transferred on to a school out of state.
In her spare time, Rue can be found enjoying some of her
favorite activities that include hiking/camping, gardening, traveling, spoiling
her four cats, and hanging out with her, “Grammie”.
When asked what her goals for the future of Project Success
consist of, her response was, “Getting the students of Project Success involved
by encouraging input. We want to be able to help the students by providing the
services they need.”
