Construction projects finishing up

Gary Johnson, the newly appointed director of facilities,
said that “construction has finished up on many projects and is wrapping up on
the remaining ones.”
The one that most students are familiar with, building
connections A to B, B to D, and D to E, has had many positive comments.
Student Andy Shute, a student who uses a wheelchair, said,
“The new elevators have a lot more room. I don’t need to tuck my foot rest back
and once I am up [on the 3rd floor] I can pop up and go. [These connections are]
a lot better and it saves time.”
Projects that have finished or that will finish within the
week include: surveillance cameras & door proximity readers, ADA compliance in
regards to site accessibility, building A, E, and G elevators, the exterior
electronic sign, the nursing program expansion, buildings D and E phase I
ceiling and light replacement, as well as, the phase I wiring modifications and
fire damper replacement.
Johnson also said, “The flat roof replacement on all the
buildings is about 90% done, the air moisture infiltration project is about 40
percent done, and the street and sidewalk light-pole replacement is just getting
under way but should go quickly.”
