The IVCC Student Government elections for freshmen positions
are going to be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 6 and 7 in the main campus
front lobby.
Any interested freshman who is in good standing can run for
the positions of Freshman Representative or one of the two slots for Freshmen
Programming Board Members.
Petitions will be available on Monday, Sept. 26 and must be
completed and returned by Friday, Sept. 30 in room C-202.
Any person taking a course at the college is eligible to vote
in the election.
“We would encourage any freshman that wants to get involved
in some way at the college to run for the SGA,” said Cory Tomasson, Student
Government Sponsor.
“It is a great way to meet a variety of students, faculty,
staff and administrators, as well as make a difference both on and off campus.
We would also like to see everyone vote in the election. The decisions that the
SGA makes affect all students, so hopefully they will elect an individual that
they support.”
The IVCC Student Government meets to deal with matters that
concern the student body and as well as planning events for current students.
The group is underway in preparation for the upcoming Spirit
Day which is to be held on Sept. 21 on the IVCC campus. The activity-filled day
will include a variety of events and games for students to enjoy.
The organization meets once every two weeks on Tuesday at
7:15 a.m. in the Counseling Center, LRC-E, and encourages anyone who is
interested to attend.
The Student Government office is located in room E-311, and
appointments can be made to speak with members of the group by calling 224-0247.
