Mental health lecture planned
Dr. Fred Frese along with three local professionals who
have been successfully treated within our local mental health care system, will
be giving a lecture on campus after winter break about mental health issues and
mentally ill patients.
The lecture is titled, “Recovery & Treatment: Myths,
Mountains & Miracles in the Mental Health Care Setting,” and will be presented
Jan. 23, 2006 at 11 a.m. and again at 6 p.m. in the IVCC Cultural Centre.
The presentation will consist of how to recognize the signs
and symptoms of a mentally ill patient, along with communication and treatment
of the patient. Participants will gain literacy in the recovery concept and
treatment of mental illness as well as improving communication skills.
This event is free of charge and open to all health care
providers, mental health care consumers, family members, emergency personnel and
students.
