IVCC should have dance team
Staff Editorial, Dec. 9, 2004
Congratulations to the new IVCC cheerleading team and good luck to them in the future at the basketball games.
It’s always nice when we give people on campus something to do that have dance talent, but don’t enjoy shouting in front of a large crowd.
Now IVCC should do tryouts for a dance squad. Most colleges have dance teams and many IVCC students would like to see or participate in a dance squad.
Dancing is a great source of exercise and can provide a half-time show at the games.
Having a dance squad also gives the students at IVCC an opportunity to become involved in athletics if they cannot play any of the other sports offered at IVCC.
Having a dance team also would give the college a chance to be represented in dancing competitions on the state and national levels.
A dance squad could increase the amount of students that we get from the area schools. One of the biggest things students look for in colleges is activities that they would like to participate in.
High school students who are in Cavalettes, Panteras, Devilettes, Bedanettes, and other high school dance members may make dance their predominate feature that they look for in a college.
Here are plenty of reasons that IVCC should invest in putting together a dance squad.
Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year’s!!!
