Young Republicans’ contest continues

May 6, 2004

Congratulations to our winners! Thanks to Robert Gibson and Devin Amigoni for submitting correct quotes, both Robert and Devin will be receiving gift certificates from IVCC bookstore for their answers. The quote
This was written by John Adams in a correspondence to the 3rd Division of the Militia of Mass., Oct. 11, 1798.
One of the students who submitted said, “This is one of the best assignments I have done since I been in school, it was enjoyable, … I found a lot of neat information out there.”

Young Republicans Contest Quote
“It is impossible to build sound constitutional doctrine upon a mistaken understanding of constitutional history...The establishment clause had been expressly freighted with Jefferson’s misleading metaphor for nearly forty years...There is simply no historical foundation for the proposition that the framers intended to build a wall of separation [between church and state]...The recent court decisions are in no way based on either the language or intent of the framers.”

But just for fun we’ve added an extra challenge for you. If you can fill in the blank on the next quote along with who was it attributed to, we will enter your name again into the drawing to see who wins our quote contest! Please understand that the purpose of this contest is to challenge you and make you think, but most of all we want you to have fun!
