Walking through the jungle, not a word said. It's all quiet, then boom, a landmine goes off. This would describe what it might be like fighting for the independence of Vietnam.
On Thursday Jan. 29, Dr. Stephen Charry lectured four of Tara Coburn's English Composition II classes.
Charry lectured the students to give them a better understanding of what went on before, during and after the Vietnam War to help them understand the novel they are reading. All four of Coburn's Comp II classes are reading "The Things They Carried" by Tim O'Brien.
The story takes place during the time of the Vietnam War. Coburn wanted the students to understand the history of the war, so they could understand and relate to the book. Not many students knew much about the
Vietnam War, but after Charry's lecture students gained a new understanding of what went on during Vietnam's 2,000-year struggle for independence.
