Christina Jesse has contributed to the Eagles with her hitting ability. She leads her team in the conference with a batting average of .457 and, at press time, had hit ten homeruns.

The pitcher and first baseman has received the outstanding hitter award.

The highlight of her softball career, so far, has been at the Highland game when she hit two homeruns in one inning.

"I think we are doing more than I expected," said Jesse.

"I hope we can continue to beat teams like Black Hawk and Kankakee. I would like our team to go to Nationals."

Jesse had a couple reasons for coming to IVCC to play softball.

"I wanted to stay with Ashleigh Davis," she said. "We're the pitcher and catcher combo. I also know that my family and friends would want to come and watch me. IV is close to home."

Jesse received many awards for her athletic skills throughout her high school career in softball. She was awarded all-conference at Midland High School. She was also co-MVP last year with Davis. She had the highest batting average at her school which was approximately .425 her senior year.

Softball was not the only sport she received awards for. Jesse was also in basketball and volleyball, winning MVP in basketball both junior and senior years. She also received all-conference in basketball and volleyball at Midland.

Jesse started playing softball as a child.

"It was something for me to do," she said. "I was athletic as a kid. I grew to love the sport."

The freshman is majoring in elementary education. She plans on staying at

IVCC for another year to play ball.

Jesse wants to transfer to a university college majoring in elementary education. She wants to be a teacher and coach.

Jesse lives outside of Varna with her parents, Steve and Judie, and 15 year old brother, Jordan.
