Five members of the IVCC chapter of Phi Theta Kappa attended the 84th Annual Phi Theta Kappa International Convention April 4 to 6 in Nashville, Tenn.
Chapter president Linda Tri, vice president Genetta Douglas, and members Danny McFadden, Derek Reed and Jacqueline Marquardt represented the Rho Omega chapter, accompanied by advisors Wes Black and Kirk Lockwood.
Special events at the convention included a political debate between Newt Gingrich and James Carville, a presentation by Dr. Patch Adams and a Distinguished Member Award presented to Grammy Award winner Trisha Yearwood.
In addition to the guest speakers, attendees were offered several educational forums promoting PTKs four hallmarks of scholarship, leadership, service and fellowship.
The convention was held at the Gaylord-Opryland Hotel. The theme was United We Stand in recognition of the human spirit in the wake of Sept. 11.
Next year's convention will be in Anaheim, Calif.
