CAST, is presenting the play “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Wolfe” by Edward Albee June 21 and 22 in the Cultural Center. At press time, price of tickets and show times were not decided.

Appearing in the play will be Jeremy Taylor, Doug Kotecki, Kaaren Holt, and Nicole Rice.Taylor, president of CAST, said anyone who would like to help out in technical or backstage work is encouraged to participate. CAST, IVCCs theater organization, stands for Club for Actors and Stage Technologists.

Music director Norm Engstrom said this production is different from most plays presented at IVCC because the students are running the show for the most part, with some guidance from Dr. David Kuester, theater director.

“Who’s Afraid of Virginia Wolfe” is known for its profanity and emotional brutality. The dysfunctional middle age couple, George and Martha, throw the reality of married life in the faces of their young idealistic guests, Nick and Honey. George and Martha’s bantering, sexual innuendoes, self-degradation and revelation of secrets, create stress between Nick and George, and sexual tension heightens between Nick and Martha, leaving Honey emotionally isolated.

Engstrom said he hopes students get experience out of this project “(because) they will be doing a lot of the work themselves and supervising themselves to a large extent.”
