On Monday May 6 students will notice something new in the link between C building and the Cultural Center, a high school student art show of 150 to 200 works.
The exhibit, which runs through May 17, will feature a variety of works of art, ranging from paintings to sculpture to papier mache.
The student artists will be honored at a reception from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. on May 7 in the link. The public is invited.
All high schools in the IVCC district were invited to participate in the exhibit, which also includes a scholarship portfolio competition. The competition will be judged by fine arts instructors Dana Collins and David Bergsieker and graphic design technology instructor Francie Skoflanc.
There will be two winners of $150 scholarships to IVCC provided by the IVCC Foundation and, in the case of an outstanding merit, one full tuition scholarship will be awarded.
Skoflanc said: "The show is a great opportunity to view our local high school talent. It is amazing to see some of the wonderful pieces that these students have created. It is nice that they are recognized here at the college."
