EDITORIAL:  The lucky three leave IV

Back to newspaper home page

It’s hard to imagine but over 91 years of teaching experience will leave IVCC on May 10.

The three faculty, James Michael, Gilbert Meyer, and Dr. Rose Marie Lynch have become more than just faculty at IVCC.

For the many thousands of students that they have touched, they have made a lasting impact that may possibly never be replaced.

As students, we never realize the importance that these instructors have had on our life. But they have been positive influences in many different aspects of our lives.

In addition to the positive aspects on our life, with the St. Patrick’s Day holiday having just passed on Sunday, we should feel very lucky to have such great influences here at IV.

The three will be missed by members of the administration and staff of IV but obviously we wish them the best of luck in whatever they choose to do.

The three faculty members have seen quite a change in IVCC; two of them began when the college was located on the east campus. Other changes they have seen include changing of the mascot, dropping of the football program, increased technology, computers, clothing and hair styles and three college presidents.

The students have changed over the years at IV, but the same dedication and commitment to a strong education style remains.

Whether it be teaching part time, playing golf, traveling or enjoying their free time, they have definately left their mark on IV.

Best of luck in the future Jim, Gil and Rosie. You will definately be missed.
