The IVCC Land of Lincoln AmeriCorp program is recruiting volunteers for the 2002-2003 term. The volunteers would tutor and mentor in the classroom as well as work on service projects in their community.
Jill Urban-Bollis, IVCCs campus coordinator, said the program requires a 900-hour commitment or 18 to 24 hours per week. In exchange, the volunteers receive a $5,082 living allowance and an educational ward of $2,362.
Candidates must be age 17 or older with a high school diploma or GED, pass a criminal background check, and be willing to commit blocks of time that parallel grade school hours, and must enjoy working with youth.
Training along with volunteering begins in August 2002 and runs through July 31, 2003.
