All 24 of IVCCs 2001 Licensed Practical Nurse graduates passed the national licensure examination on their first attempt.

The Illinois Department of Professional Regulation recently notified Gloria Bouxsein, division chair of Health Professions and director of Nursing, that 100 percent of the students who completed IVCC's practical nursing program passed the exam on their first attempt. The national pass rate was 86 percent, and the state pass rate was 88 percent.

Of the 48 associate degree nursing graduates, 90 percent passed the exam on the first attempt. This exceeds the national level of 86 percent and the state level of 84 percent.

Successful completion of the licensure examination allows nursing graduates to practice in the role of licensed practical nurse or registered nurse, depending on the program of study completed.

"The nursing faculty and I are very proud of our graduates and their ccomplishments," Bouxsein said.
