TRANSFER TALK: Representatives from universities will be on campus on the following dates to talk with prospective transfer students:

- March 21 - WIU from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Aparil 3 - DePaul from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- April 9 - Blackburn College from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- April 9 - NIU from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- April 10 - St. Francis from 9:30 a.m. to noon.
- April 15 - Robert Morris from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- April 18 - EIU from 9 to 11 a.m.
- April 22 - WIU from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- April 24 - Eureka from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- May 6 - St. Francis from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- May 6 - Robert Morris from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The representatives will be in the main lobby.

LOOKING FOR WORK? IVCC is hosting its annual job fair, "Job Expo 2002: Working for the Future," from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. on April 11.

Workshops on how to prepare for the Job Fair are scheduled for 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. April 2 and noon to 1 p.m. April 3 in room F-114 free of charge and open to the public. An additional how to prepare session is scheduled for 10 a.m. to noon on March 25 at the Ottawa Illinois Employment and Training Center.

"All job seekers should plan on attending the fair and be prepared to discuss your qualifications, skills and experience," said Kathy Glascock, director of the career planning and placement center. "It is really important to dress in interview attire and to have a resume to give to employers."

DISNEY RECRUITING: Walt Disney World will be recruiting for their Fall 2002 programs at their Walt Disney World Resort on April 12. A formal one-hour presentation is scheduled for 12:15 p.m. in C-316. Kathy Glascock, director of the career planning and placement center, said students who are interested interviewing for a Disney intership are required to attend the presentation.

Interviews will be held immediately following the presentation. Disney recruiters will also staff an information table in the main lobby from 10 a.m. to noon on April 12.

Applications for an internship will be available at the presentation or may be completed online at wdwcollegeprogram.com.

NATIONAL ATTENTION: Eight members of the IVCC Chem Club will be attending the national American Chemical Society meeting and presenting a chemistry demonstration. Kristen Soberalski, Ben Hartenbower, Sarah Smith, Scott Wollack, Jim Stork, Bekah Peterson, Betty Perez and Mitch Lovgren will be in Orlando, Fla. from April 5 to 9. The IVCC group is one of only eight colleges presenting demonstrations in the Orlando Science Museum on April 6.

The students will present a poster entitled "Becoming an Element in the Community," pick up their award for last year's activities, and attend seminars and the exposition.

The students will be accompanied by advisors Bob Byrne and Jeff Carver.

NEED HELP? Tutoring is available, free of charge, for both full-time and part-time students at the Peer Tutoring Center.

Tutoring sessions are available on a walk-in or appointment basis. Help is available in a number of subject areas including accounting, biology, chemistry, computer science, English, foreign languages, math, and social sciences. A schedule is available in the center in B-201 or from coordinator Jim Dresbach in B-325.

"Students can recognize that there is still time for academic assistance as we enter the home stretch of the semester," said Dresbach.

WANT TO BE A TUTOR? Jim Dresbach, peer tutor coordinator, is recruiting tutors for the summer and fall sessions.

"Tutoring is a great way for an education or a child development major to start their career," Dresbach said.

TAKE BACK THE NIGHT: The Criminal Justice Association is again sponsoring a Take Back the Night March at 6 p.m. May 9 in Peru.

"This is a public awareness event," said CJA advisor Rebecca Donna. "The march is an attempt to education the public regarding the issue of violence and demestic violence."

BAKE SALE: The IV Chem Club will hold a bake sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 21 in the cafeteria.

BEING RECOGNIZED: Nearly 50 members of the college faculty and staff will be in the spotlight at the 2002 Recognition Event at 4:30 p.m. Mary 10 at Deer Park. Those being recognized will include the winner of the Faculty Excellence Award and the Support Staff Distinguished Service Award, faculty recently granted tenure, years of service honorees and new retirees.

NEED CHILD CARE? The Learning Ladder Early Childhood Center in Princeton has openings for children from 6 weeks to 7 years in age. The service is available to students enrolled in six or more credit hours and to all faculty and staff.

The Center is a collaborative partnership between Ace Distribution Center and IVCC. It is open Monday to Friday from 4:45 a.m. to 7 p.m.

INTERESTED IN PSYCHOLOGY? The Psychology Club is recruiting students interested in the field of psychology. The group is planning community service projects and a visit to a mental health clinic. Further information is available from advisor Jill Urban-Bollis at jill_ urbanbollis@ ivcc.edu.

NEWSPAPER ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS: The IV Leader is accepting applications for the staff. Any part-time or full-time student is eligible for the staff. Open positions include: newswriting, sports writing, columnist, graphic artist, cartoonist, photographer, page or layout editor. Advisor Dr. Rose Marie Lynch said no previous publication experience is necessary.
