Nursing student killed in automobile accident
She was enjoying her certified nursing assistant classes and taking an overload to be accepted in the registered nursing program in the fall.
On Jan. 26, 19-year-old Julie A. Kline's plans to be a nurse ended when she died following a single-car crash in Dimmick Township.
"This is a tragic loss for someone who wanted nursing so bad," Gloria Bouxsein, chair of the health professions division said.
Christine Blaydes, CNA instructor, said: "She (Kline) was a kind and considerate person, the type you would want in the nursing program. Our profession lost a good person."
Student Jessica Miller, who worked with Kline for a short time, said, "She was always a joy to work with."
Tim Horger, who taught the general biology course Kline took in the fall, described her as a "quiet, respectful student." He added: "I am saddened by the news of her untimely death."
A 2001 graduate of L-P High School, Kline lived with her parents in Dimmick.
She volunteered at St. Margaret's Hospital in Spring Valley and at the Illinois Valley Food Pantry.
She is survived by her parents, Alan and Debra (Zeman) Kline; a brother, Robert Kline of LaSalle; a sister, Kristina (Scott) Fox of Peru; her grandparents, great grandmother, a nephew and several aunts and uncles.
Services were Jan. 30 at Ptak Funeral Home in Peru. Burial was at St. Valentine Cemetery.
