 TRANSFER TALK: Representatives from universities will be on campus on the following dates to talk with prospective transfer students:

- Feb. 15 - U of I Springfield from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

- March 7 - Robert Morris from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

- March 18 - NIU from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

- March 21 - WIU from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The representatives will be in the main lobby.

SUMMER REGISTRATION EARLY: Registration for summer classes will begin on March 4, more than a month earlier than in previous years.

Kelly Conrad, director of admissions, said the date has been moved up to accommodate early planners and university students home for spring breaks.

NEED CHILD CARE? The Learning Ladder Early Childhood Center in Princeton has openings for children from 6 weeks to 7 years in age. The service is available to students enrolled in six or more credit hours and to all faculty and staff.

The Center is a collaborative partnership between Ace Distribution Center and IVCC. It is open Monday to Friday from 4:45 a.m. to 7 p.m.

PIZZA DAY: Pizza will be available in the cafeteria on Feb. 13 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event is a fundraiser sponsored by Phi Theta Kappa.

AND THE WINNER IS….Vic Tanner won the Phi Theta Kappa drawing for a complimentary night at Starved Rock Lodge and a gift certificate. PTK sponsored the drawing as a fund-raiser for their travel to the International Conference in Nashville, Tenn. in April.

INTERESTED IN PSYCHOLOGY? The Psychology Club is recruiting any students interested in the field of psychology. The group is planning community service projects and a visit to a mental health clinic. The next meeting if at 12:15 p.m. Feb. 14 outside of D-309. Further information is available from advisor Jill Urban-Bollis at jill_ urbanbollis@ ivcc.edu.

BAKE SALE AND BADGES: The Chem Club is holding a bake sale from 8 a.m to 2 p.m. Feb. 14 in the cafeteria area.

The Club is hosting a Boy Scout Chemistry Merit Badge on March 2 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Secretary Sarah Smith said the group needs help with that event. Further information is available from chemistry instructors or by contacting the club at iv_ chemistry @ hotmail.com

FOOD FEST: Alma Latina will be selling tacos from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 26 in the cafeteria area.

SCHOLARSHIPS: Brochures outlining more than 50 scholarships offered by the IVCC Foundation are now available at the Foundation Office, the Financial Aid Office, the Counseling Center and Project Success.

Director of Development Lori Nall said one application would allow a student to be considered for a variety of the scholarships.

Applications must be turned into the Financial Aid Office by March 1. The funds are for the Fall 2002 and Spring 2003 semesters, and scholarships will be awarded by the end of May.

DENTAL WORK: The Dental Assisting Program is looking for students or staff who would like to have their teeth cleaned and x-rayed. At press time, only a few appointments were left for cleaning, but more were open for full mouth x-rays.

REGISTER TO VOTE: Residents of LaSalle County can register to vote with Giacomo Leone, chair of the humanties and fine arts division, in E-209. A primary election is on March 19.

CAREER CARNIVAL: Career exploration is the focus of the March 1 Carnival of Careers on campus.

"In a fun and informative format we will provide resources and ideas to help you spark and explore exciting options of careers for the future," said counselor Valery Calvetti.

Activities are scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the main lobby, link and Cultural Centre. Sponsoring organizations are Education to Careers, the Regional Office of Education, and IVCCs Tech Prep Team.

DIAL 7: To make outgoing calls from campus phones, dial "7." At the end of the fall semester, the outside access number was changed from "9" to "7." Vice President of Business Services Dr. Frank Papke said the change was made to avoid accidental 911 calls.

FOUNDATION DANCE: The Third Annual Hearts of America Dinner Dance is Feb. 16 at the Mendota Civic Center. Class Act, a 20-piece orchestra will provide swing, jazz and big band music.

Cocktails (cash bar) begin at 6 p.m., dinner at 7, and dancing at 8. Tickets for this IVCC Foundation event at $35 per person.

HEADING THE BOARD: Bill Franklin of Ottawa was elected College Board chairman at the regular November meeting of the board. Other officers are Deborah Sweeden, vice chairman; and Tom Shea, secretary.

LOOKING FOR WORK? IVCC is hosting it's annual job fair, "Job Expo 2002: Working for the Future," from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. on April 11.

NEWSPAPER ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS: The IV Leader is accepting applications for the staff. Any part-time or full-time student is eligible for the staff. Open positions include: newswriting, sports writing, columnist, graphic artist, cartoonist, photographer, page or layout editor. Advisor Dr. Rose Marie Lynch said no previous publication experience is necessary.
