Two-time Olympic Silver Medalist Jean Driscoll will tell her inspirational story March 5 on campus.

Driscoll will present "Dream Big, Work Hard, Achieve Extraordinary Results" at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. in the Cultural Centre.

Driscoll, born with spina bifida, has been a dominating force in wheelchair racing since 1990. She has won the Boston Marathon eight times and captured Silver Medals in the 1992 Barcelona and 1996 Atlanta Olympic games.

In 2000, Driscoll was listed No. 25 on Sports Illustrated for Women's Top 100 Female Athletes of the Century.

"Jean is a dynamic speaker," said Fitness Center Director Tony Ruda. "This will be entertaining for all ages."

An experienced motivational speaker, Driscoll will discuss how her dreams helped her overcome her inability to walk.

Her appearance is being co-sponsored by the Fitness Center, the Diversity Committee and the SGA.

IVCC students, faculty and staff will be admitted free. A donation of $2.50 per person is being requested from members of the public.

Driscoll has been featured on Good Morning America, the Today Show, Nightline and in USA Today. She co-authored a book, "Determined to Win," in 2000.

A native of Milwaukee, Driscoll received her bachelor's degree in speech communication and master's degree in rehabilitation administration, both from the University of Illinois.

Further information is available from Ruda at 224-0333.
