Certification as a Microsoft Office User Specialist is now available through the Business Training Center on campus.
"The MOUS program is the only comprehensive certification program designed to validate desktop Microsoft computer skills," said Jamie Gahm, director of the center. "By earning certification, employees make themselves more marketable and more valuable to employers because it shows they have the desktop computing skills needed to work more productively and efficiently."
MOUS also provides a measure of employees' proficiency and productivity and identifies opportunities for skills enhancement related to Microsoft Office programs.
Two levels of certification are offered: proficient and expert. Instead of written tests, the one-hour computer exams feature real-world assignments that require actual computer skills application.
Those who are interested in MOUS certification can find practice exams and an exam preparation guide that describes a list of needed skills at www.mous.net. Those who need additional training before an exam can enroll in a Business Training Center Certified Computer Course. For information on available courses, call 224-0427 or visit www.ivcc.edu/btc.
MOUS testing is available from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays in Room C-221. The cost is $65 per person. To schedule a test, call 224-0427.
