The I-READ Literacy Program at IVCC will conduct its fall volunteer tutor training sessions beginning Tuesday, March 6.
These nine-hour orientation and training sessions are scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. March 6, 8 and 20 and 9 a.m. to noon March 12, 14 and 16 on campus.
An additional component of the training will be observation in an adult learning lab or a one-on-one tutoring situation. New volunteers may choose to participate in either the morning or evening sessions. Tutors are then matched with adult learners aged 16 and older who are reading or computing below the ninth-grade level.
One-on-one sessions between student and tutor are scheduled once a week at local libraries. Instruction also is available at adult learning lab sites both on campus and throughout the IVCC district.
Anyone interested in volunteering with I-READ and attending these training sessions can contact Mary Gross, I-READ Program Manager, at 224-0355.
