At press time, enrollment stood at 3,488 compared to last spring’s total of 3,704, showing a 5.8 percent drop.

Kelly Conrad, director of admissions, said that these totals were partly because "the fall enrollment totals were down some."

Students are enrolled in 29,610.5 credit hours compared to 30,512 at this time last spring, a drop of almost 3 percent.

Final figures would not be available until after press time, Conrad said, since students could still drop a regular semester class and receive a refund.

Conrad said high school class sizes play a role in the decrease of enrollment over the past several years.

"Overall, the graduating classes of 2000 were 20 percent smaller than the year before," she said.
