Earn a bachelor's at Franklin University
Busy students dont have to fall behind when earning their education. Through an educational alliance between IVCC and Franklin University, students can schedule their college studies around job, family, and other activities.
Students have the opportunity to earn a bachelors degree by combining on-campus courses at IVCC with online courses through Franklin University.
Students begin by taking core courses at IVCC, earning an associates degree or equivalent. Then they continue at IVCC by taking a selected number of bridge courses that are designed to prepare them for the upper level online courses taken from Franklin.
Students connect with professors and classmates via computer. Assignments are posted by e-mail, and there are scheduled chat sessions and bulletin board discussions in which the class reviews the study topics. When all classes are complete, the student is awarded a bachelors degree from Franklin.
One strength of this program is that students have the benefit of belonging to two schools at one time, college officials said. They can access both IVCC and Franklin University resources including academic advising, help desks and library systems. Each student is also assigned a Regional Director from Franklin University who provides support and guidance by answering questions about transcripts, financial aid or even how students purchase their textbooks.
Franklin Regional Director Tim Moran makes regular visits to the IVCC campus. Moran encourages students to talk to their IVCC advisors about the bachelors degree completion program, or contact Franklin University by phone at 1-888-341-6237, ext. 6288, or by e-mail alliance@franklin.edu.
