If youre looking for a job, the 2001 Job Fair could be the first step.
On April 19, "Jobs 2001: a Career Odyssey" will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. The fair will be held in the gym where over 70 employers have already registered.
"There are a wide variety of companies that will be represented," said Kathy Glascock, director of career planning and placement. Some companies include Walmart Distribution, Citizen Bank, many health care employers, and more.
Students are advised not to dress to casual, but rather dress in interview attire. Glascock suggested a skirt or slacks with a blouse for women, and a shirt and tie for men.
Registration will be at the door, where the students can leave a copy of their resume. Also job seekers should make about 10 copies of their resume to give to potential employers, Glascock said. She also advised job seekers to be prepared to talk about their strengths, and job history.
There will be door prize drawings for IVCC items, such as sweatshirts.
Anyone who is interested in the Job Fair and would like to know more can visit www.ivcc.edu/cppc or call the Career Planning and Placement Office at 224-0502.
