Instructors and Staff Comment on Basement Murals

Back to Apache home page

"I pass through the tunnel in building B every day to go to my mailbox. It is really exciting to see what is happening there. I have several classrooms in the tunnel and it was always a depressing and dreary walk to them. It's great; now I have some scenery like everyone on the upper floors…I would really like to have the art students work with the engineering students to make the drafting room a less dismal place."

Engineering Design Instructor

"I like the murals in the tunnel of Building B. It seems to brighten up what otherwise was a pretty dull walk. Some of them look a little far out, but all are welcome….We should think about doing this in the other tunnel locations. It is also a great way to provide a permanent art collection."

"Having artwork in the tunnels is a good place to start off. But why not in the link, the cafeteria, some place more public?"

Bob Hunter

Web Master

"I’ve enjoyed watching the progress and the comments when we walk through. I think they should open the murals up during the art show (IVCC Student Art Exhibition running through April 20), have guides and take people through there."

Pam Mammano

Nursing Instructor

"I truly love those murals in the basement. I walk the basement so often. It just makes such a change in the environment. I think the kids have done such an excellent job and Dana (Collins) and Dave (Bergsieker) in the art department."

Koshu Jagasia

English Instructor

"How absolutely wonderful they are. You know how you’re always rushing from one place to the other? That slows me down to look at the beauty. It brightens up my day."
