IVCC student Rebecca Peterson, 21, began her interest in art by painting and drawing in her free time.

“I took seven years of art, starting with three years in junior high and then four years in high school.”

She adds, “Right now, I’m working on the murals in the basement,” which are a part of the beautification project here at IVCC.

Some of her major influences in art include her aunts.

“My aunt Jill does all types of crafts and my aunt Char paints for a hobby.” Peterson graduated from Mendota High School and said that she’s here at IVCC to “get my basicsout of the way.”

“I plan to move to Wisconsin and transfer into a forestry program,” she added.

One of Peterson’s favorite hobbies is playing the violin. She began playing at age three and took lessons for seven years. Now she’s starting to play again.

Peterson’s mother, Nancy, owns a bookstore. Her father, Gary, is a heating and cooling electrician and owns a farm.
