SECURITY SERVICES: Crackdown on bad park jobs leaves 45 stranded
Since the start of the spring semester, 45 cars have been towed for improper parking in campus lots.
Ken Sangston, director of safety services, said parking violations have occurred throughout all of the parking lots and in the turn around in front of the main entrance.
"Theyve been all over," Sangston said. "They (violators) are just dropping them (autos) anywhere."
Sangston said it is college policy to tow vehicles that are improperly parked. The policy, printed in the Student Handbook, identifies seven violations:
- blocking road or walkway
- parking in fire lanes
- blocking or parking on the lawn
- blocking the exit route of other parked cars
- parking in faculty/staff lots, guest parking spaces or special permit spaces with authorization
- parking in turn-around more than a half hour
- not parking within parking space lines.
Vehicles are being towed by Scholle Towing of Peru. Their fee for releasing a vehicle is $50.
