Job: Human Resources Manager, United Steel Deck, Peru

Background on IVCC Board: Worked at IVCC as staff, Records Office - 7 years. Part time counselor - 3 years. Part time instruction and Board of Education - 8 years.

Educational background: A.A. from IVCC. B.A. in Business Administration from Upper Iowa University. M.A. in counseling from NIU.

Other information: Was on grade school board 10 years. Currently on Workforce Investment Board 10 years. Illinois Valley Community Hospital Board. Republican Executive Board. Precinct Committeeman.

1. What do you believe are the biggest challenges facing IVCC?

Our biggest challenges are IVCC are (1). balancing the budget, with reductions in state and federal funding, while maintaining a 30+ year old facility that is in constant need of repairs and upgrading. (2). keeping up on, improving, and advancing with the latest technology. (3). competing with other community colleges and four year universities for enrollment numbers.

2. What does IVCC need to do to face those challenges?

We are continuously looking for other avenues of funding (i.e. grants,bonds, tuition) that will allow us to maintain our facility, advance with technological changes, strive to increase enrollment, and offer the best education we can offer to our students.

3. Other comments?

I am proud to serve our community, our administration, staff, teachers, and most of all our students in providing a first-rate institution with top quality education at affordable prices.

 

Jimmie D. Lansford

Educational background: A.S. from IVCC. B.S. from College of St. Francis. M.S. University of Notre Dame.

Other information: Married, wife Gigi. Live in Streator. Three grown children. Three still at home: Ryan a freshman at IVCC, Mark a senior at Streator High schoool, Samantha in 8th grade. Veteran. Service in the U.S. Marines, and U.S. Army. Honorably discharged from both. Viet Nam Veteran.

1. What do you believe are the biggest challenges facing IVCC?

(a). Ability to continue providing quality education at reasonable cost. (b). maintain technology necessary. (3) attracting and retaining quality faculty to meet future needs.

2. What does IVCC need to do to face those challenges?

(a). meet community expectations. (b). attract students from our entire population base. (c). market IVCC as the college of choice for a quality education and the college of choice for quality faculty looking for employment. (d). fiscal responsibility.
