Rivers Project Workshop Feb. 17
The IVCC Chemistry Club students and science faculty are again hosting the Rivers Project Workshop Feb. 17.
Faculty and students are encouraged to attend and participate in this event. There is no fee for attending the workshop.
There is a limit of 100 participants. This activity will benefit science teachers or high school students.
The workshop will use the turbidmeter, and the conductivity meter. The team of instructors will each have a set up displaying their materials in the chemistry lab.
The workshop will feature several stations that will give information on specific aspects of science. Bob Byrne will teach a session on chemistry, Larry McPheron biology, Bob Williams and Tim Horger Macro Invertebrates; Geology and Earth Science, Mike Phillips and Bill Donato.
At 7 p.m. in room D-225, Steve Havera, a wildlife ecologist by the Illinois Natural History Survey, will give a presentation on mans effects on the biology of the Illinois River system.
Havera is also the director of the Forbes Biological Station, and the F.C. Bellrose Waterfowl Research Center at Havana and on the faculty of Bradley and, Western Illinois Universities, and the University of Illinois.
