GRADUATION DEADLINE: Students planning to graduate in May need to submit an application for graduation to the Office of Admissions and Records by Feb. 1. Applications are available outside of C-207 or at the cashier station.

TRANSFER TALK: Representatives from universities will be in the main lobby to talk with prospective transfer students on the following dates:

Feb. 1 – Eureka from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Feb. 2 – SIU from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and WIU from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Feb. 7 – Monmouth from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Lewis University from 5 to 7 p.m.

Feb. 16 – Eureka from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Feb. 28 – Loyola from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Y2K WORKSHOPS: Two job hunting workshops have been scheduled by the Career Service Center:

Motivation and Enthusiasm in Finding a Job on Feb. 10

How to Handle an Interview and Finding a Job Online on March 16.

The workshops are in D-225 from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Reservations are suggested by calling 224-0502 or in the Center in D-207.

CAMPUS VISITS: Project Success is providing the following campus visits:

EIU on Feb. 14, leaving at 6:30 a.m. and returning at 6 p.m.

NIU on Feb. 21, leaving at 8 a.m. and returning at 4 p.m.

ISU on Feb. 25, leaving at 8:45 a.m. and returning at 3 p.m.

SIU-Carbondale on Feb. 26, leaving Feb. 25 at noon and returning on Feb. 26 at 6 p.m.

WIU on March 25, leaving at 6 a.m. and returning at 6 p.m.

NORQUIST LEAVES: Shipping and Receiving Clerk Blake Norquist, who had been at IVCC for seven years, resigned before Christmas to take a job in Yorkville. He will be in charge of inventory, purchasing, shipping and receiving for a plumbing and heating business. He and his wife Niki and two-year-old son, Austin, will be living in Millington, Ill.

NEW ONLINE JOB HELP: The Career Service Center is offering a new online job-matching service. Recruiting Plus offers postings on jobs, internships, mentorships and co-ops.

The Career Service Center in LRC-D can provide more information on the service and the password to log on to the service located at www.gooeyindustries.com

 FINANCIAL AID: Help in completing the 2000-2001 Free Application for Federal Student Aid will be provided from 1 to 4 p.m. on Feb. 20. Anyone planning to attend the FAFSA workshop should call the IVCC Financial Aid Office at 224-0438 for a preparation packet.

EMERGENCY VOLUNTEERS: The IVCC First Responder team is looking for licensed EMT’s or First Responders to volunteer to serve on campus. The college team helps people who are in need of emergency medical assistance. Further information is available from Ron Groleau at ext. 482, office A-216 or E-mail groleau@ivcc.edu

 CENSUS JOBS: Applications for census-taking jobs will be accepted Feb. 4, 11 and 18 in C-316 at 9:30 a.m. The work, going door to door contacting people who fail to return census questionnaires, will be done in April, May and June.

WOMEN'S CONFERENCE: Illinois Women in Government is offering conference awards to college students interested in attending the IWG Conference in Springfield April 26-28.

The Senator Penny Severns Conference Awards, named after the State Senator who died in 1998, cover the cost of registration, meals, mileage and lodging. The award also includes a mentoring experience, each recipient is matched with a state legislator or other government official.

DIAL IVCC: The college has added two new phone numbers: 220-IVCC and 223-IVCC.

PUT YOUR NAME IN PRINT: Students interested in any aspect of publishing can apply for the Apache staff. All students, part-time and full-time, are eligible.

NEED HELP WITH A CLASS? Peer tutoring is available, free of charge, in the Academic Achievement Center in B-315. Anyone who would like assistance needs to fill out an application available in the tutoring office, B-325. A schedule of tutoring sessions is available there.
