At the recent meeting of the Student Government Association Melissa Deshinsky was appointed secretary. She will be replacing Missy Reutner, who resigned.
A student expressed concerns to the SGA about being notified if a class were to be canceled. "SGA will be looking into what options are available for notification of a canceled class," Cory Tomasson, SGA advisor, said.
Letters have been submitted to Dr. Robert Marshall, vice president of student services, and Dr. Harriet Custer, vice president of academic affairs, on the subject of computer policy and the usage of labs that were closed, according to Tomasson. A response has not been received.
The game show "Name That Tune" will take place from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22 in the cafeteria. The public is invited to attend the event free of charge.
The next activity planned will be "Actuality Racing" on April 25. Students will sit in small model race cars with virtual reality glasses on. The student will see a miniature look-alike car on a 40x40 race track in front of them.
Cameras are mounted on the car so that the student can see exactly what a race driver sees. The student gets a view of what a car going around the track looks like.
SGA will be attending Student Lobby Day in April to gather ideas from the Illinois Community College Board on issues that can be addressed by writing to state representatives.
