FREE X-RAYS: Free dental x-rays are available to students and IVCC employees on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 to 4 p.m. through March 2. Appointments are necessary. Call ext. 359 or stop by the Dental Lab in B-214 to schedule an appointment.
PSYCH HONORS: Psi Beta, IVCCs Psychology Honor Society, is taking applications for membership. Any student interested in joining the national honor society should contact Jill Urban-Bollis in D-307. The application deadline is Feb. 28.
CAMP APACHE: The Social Science Internship Course (SSI 2000) is in the process of planning Camp Apache, a day camp for school age children to be held April 17 20. The camp is designed for the children who are on spring break that week. Registration will be held in March.
FINANCIAL AID: Help in completing the 2000-2001 Free Application for Federal Student Aid will be provided from 1 to 4 p.m. on Feb. 20. Anyone planning to attend the FAFSA workshop should call the IVCC Financial Aid Office at 224-0438 for a preparation packet.
EMERGENCY VOLUNTEERS: The IVCC First Responder team is looking for licensed EMTs or First Responders to volunteer to serve on campus. AFRICAN-AMERICAN HISTORY BOOKS: To celebrate African-American History Month, the bookstore has stocked books on Nelson Mandela, Barbara Jordan, Rosa Parks, the history of Selma, and African traditions. The bookstore is featuring "Hidden in Plain View" by Jacqueline Tobin, which focuses on how handmade quilts were used during the Civil War to send messages to participants in the underground railroad.
Bookstore manager Lauren Sandberg said all titles will be 15 percent off during February.
WOMEN'S CONFERENCE: Illinois Women in Government is offering conference awards to college students interested in attending the IWG Conference in Springfield April 26-28.
The Senator Penny Severns Conference Awards, named after the State Senator who died in 1998, cover the cost of registration, meals, mileage and lodging. The award also includes a mentoring experience, each recipient is matched with a state legislator or other government official.

www.IllinoisWomenInGov.orgIVCC WEB SURFERS: IVCCs Web site is busiest at 7 p.m., according to data released by Bob Hunter, Webmaster. For the first 25 days in January, the Web site received 233,279 hits, or about 9,500 per day.
Hunter explained that each image and page downloaded is counted as a hit, so that one page with two images registers as three hits.
NOON SHAPE-UP: A self-paced, general conditioning class is beginning Feb. 28 in the Educational Fitness Center. Open to all faculty, staff and students, the eight-week course meets at noon on Monday and Wednesday. The cost is $10 for Fitness Center members and $25 for non-members.
