Have you ever seen anyone perform 30 plays in 60 minutes?
The Neo - Futurists attempt to do just that with the play, "Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind."
According to the Neo - Futurists web site, "the audience is plunged into a random outpouring of comic/tragic/political/personal/experimental short plays over the course of a carefully - clocked hour. The play is a post modern roller coaster exploring the simultaneous clash of opposing realities."
The organization tries to, "strengthen the human bond between performer and audience and no one is too cool to participate," according to the Neo - Futurists Manifesto!
"All of the characters are ourselves. All of our stories really happened. We do not aim to suspend the audiences disbelief, but to create a world where the stage is a continuation of daily life," they continued.
The group strives to bring inexpensive art to the general public by keeping their ticket prices low. Admission to a performance is random: $4 + the roll of a single 6 - sided die ($5 - $10).
The Neo - Futurists will be performing at 2 and 7 p.m. in the IVCC Cultural Centre on April 20.
The group has been known to order pizza for the entire audience. "Just a reminder when we sell out, we order out," said the Neo - Futurists.
