A joint concert between the IVCC Wind Ensemble and the Sterling Municipal Symphony Band will be presented at 7:30 p.m. April 27 in the Cultural Centre.
The Wind Ensemble, conducted by Gene Montgomery, will feature guest soloist Melanie Montgomery.
Melanie Montgomery, a flutist, holds a masters degree in music performance from the Indiana University School of Music. She has appeared as a recitalist in New York, throughout the Midwest and in Spain as part of a concert series dedicated to promoting young artists. As an
orchestral flutist, she has performed with the Seville Symphony Orchestra on their annual tour of Spain.
Composers to be performed by the ensemble include Schubert, Mendelssohn, Rossini, Reed, Goldman and Nestico. A Rossini string quartet, arranged by Goldman for woodwind quartet, will feature Melanie Montgomery, flute; Gene Montgomery, clarinet; Ann Lusher, French horn;
and Chris Claassen, bassoon.
The Sterling band will select its music from such composers as Philip Sparke, Adam Gorb, Roland Seitz, Luigi Denza, Paul Hart, George Gershwin and Barclay Allen.
