JOB HUNTING HELP: An opportunity to talk with local human resource managers is being offered free of charge March 18 by the Career Service Center from 3 to 4 p.m. in D-225.
Managers from Amcore Bank, B & B Electronics, Boise Cascade, Carus Publishing, Community Hospital of Ottawa, Eakas Corporation, Manpower and IVCC will be available to answer questions.

BADGES FOR CHEMISTRY: Members of the American Chemical Society will be helping area boy scouts earn a merit badge in the chemistry lab at 8 a.m. Feb. 27. ACS secretary Julie Gula said that anyone interested in helping is welcome.

SWEATSHOPS?: Myrna Garner of Illinois State University will discuss "The Apparel Trade in the Pacific Basin"at the next Honors Colloquium on Feb. 24 at 2 p.m. in F-113.
The program is open to the public and free of charge.
NEED DENTAL X-RAYS? The Dental Assisting Program is seeking patients in need of a x-rays. The service is being offered free of charge to currently enrolled students and to college employess.
Pat Pearson, dental assisting instructor, said the x-rays would be mailed to the persons family dentist. The x-rays take approximately 45 minutes, she said.
Appointments are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to noon and from 2 to 4 p.m. If these times are not convenient, Pearson said, other arrangments may be possible.
Anyone interested in scheduling an appointment should contact Pearson at ext. 359 or stop in the dental lab, B-214. The service will be available through March 4.

CELEBRATING AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORY: The Bookstore is celebrating African American History Month, throughout February, by stocking books on famous African Americans including Barbara Jordan, Sojourner Truth and Martin Luther King.
HELP APPLYING FOR $$: IVCC will host FAFSA Completion Night on Feb. 18 to help visitors complete the 1999-2000 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The event is scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the cafeteria.
Anyone interested in attending should call the Financial Aid Office, ext. 438, for a preparation packet.

HEADING THE UNION: David Bergsieker was elected president of the American Federation of Teachers, local 1810, at a meeting held in December.
Other officers elected at that time are Tim Horger, vice president; Mike Sankovich, treasurer; Marge Hunt, recording secretary; Greg Oseland, corresponding secretary; and Kim Abel, Gil Meyer and Cory Tomasson, Sergeants at Arms.
All officers will serve for two years.
NEW DATATEL MANAGER: Shirley Peaster of Tulsa, Okla. is IVCCs new on-site Datatel Project Manager. Peaster, who has a Bachelors degree in Management Information Systems, was Director of Client Services, Systems Administrator and manager of the programming staff at the University of Tulsa.
Peaster has been assigned to IVCC to serve as project manager through most of 1999 while the college implements Datatels Colleague software. Colleague is an administrative software package which will replace the colleges aging and year 2000 non-compliant administrative software. Colleague will handle finance, admissions, curriculum management, human resources, financial aid, registration and records and payroll.
