The following information and comments are the candidate's responses to an Apache questionnaire
Occupation: President/C.E.O. (Retired) of United Food and Commercial Workers International
Family: Wife (Arlene), 5 children
Education:
L-P High School
Residence: Peru
Connection with IVCC:
Four children attended IVCC. I was a Board Trustee for 21 years.
Qualifications for the Board:
During the 21 years that I was a Board member I had an open door policy. I made myself available on and off campus to students, staff and the public. I attended not only the monthly board meeting, but also regional, state and national meetings. I was the voting delegate at the state meetings and Board chairman.
Why running for the Board:
The good Lord says to be productive. I want to put my 21 years of Board experience and 68 years of life experience to good use. I realize that my vote has a great impact on what happened to IVCC both now and in the future.
Biggest challenges facing the college:
We have to provide tuition and other costs that are affordable to all residents that want to attend IVCC. The student has to be our highest priority. We can't forget, without the student, no IVCC.
Maintain our high standard of learning that IVCC stands for.
Other comments:
Maybe! Four-year college -- we never know unless we try.
