Former Chicago Bull Bob Love will be on campus April 28 to prove dreams can come true.

Love, the second-leading scorer in Bulls history, will offer a motivational message open to students, faculty and staff at 11 a.m. at a location to be announced. His topic will be "Dreams Can Come True."

Jerry Corcoran, Director of Human Resources, described Love as "an eloquent motivational speaker."

Corcoran, who chairs the Diversity Task Force that is sponsoring Love's appearance, explained that Love has overcome a number of challenges including a severe speech impediment.

"Just eight years after his retirement (from playing with the Bulls), he found himself busing tables at Nordstrom's Department Store for $4.45 per hour," Corcoran said. "One of the Nordstrom's executives was so impressed with his work ethic that they paid for his speech therapy."

Love currently serves as Director of Community Relations for the Bulls.

Corcoran said the Diversity Task Force sees Love's presentation as "another appropriate diversity-related event as part of a coordinated plan for diversity training for the IVCC family."

Members of the task force include Kim Abel, Fran Brolley, Paul Crawford, Paula Hallock, Jamie Lemmer, Mary Lou Meader, Ken Sangston, Kathy Sramek, Jill Urban-Bollis and Frank Zeller.
