 ‘Vacancy’ scares audience

“Vacancy,” starring Kate Beckinsale and Luke Wilson, is No. 4 in the box office this week. The movie started off quite corny and had many horror movie cliches.
The couple had no signal when their car broke down; there were naked college girls getting attacked, and masks on the killers… Jason much? The movie reminded me of other movies a lot!
First, the room looked like the hotel room from “Identity” and then the things happening next door was the main part of Joy Ride. However, the banging on the doors was incredibly creepy. And the scary parts were nice because there was no build-up.
When something jumped out at you, most of the time you weren’t expecting it! Along with that, there wasn’t much gore, which made me incredibly happy.
Personally, I am sick of horror movies focusing on blood, blood, and blood. But then there were bad parts too. There was no background and no motive for the killers.
The windows were bright but it was supposed to be nighttime. The cop was there to save them but he was an idiot. The girl was hiding, yet she was breathing louder than anyone I have ever heard. And then, when the guy was dead for hours, he woke up with just a touch of her hand.
I found that I was shaking after the movie and scared to walk to my car at night. It had some problems, but overall I would give this movie 4 ½ stars and have already recommended it to all of my friends.
If you want a good scare and something that is unlike every other horror movie being made these days, Vacancy is definitely for you.
