 ‘Idol’ contestants whittled down

Sanjaya is gone, Idol gave back and no one was eliminated; just a typical crazy month for “American Idol” fans.
Sanjaya Malakar met his fate, and Idol fans rejoiced. Then the media brigade began, and the face of Malakar appeared on every morning, afternoon and evening talk show in America. And although he was one of the worst contestants to make it as far as he did, future Idol contestants should take notes from Sanjaya.
Having a large fan base is the most important thing a contestant to do in order to find success on “American Idol.” Oh yeah, a little talent helps too.
“Idol Gives Back,” a star-studded event which raised money to help impoverished children in African and America aired on April 25. It was a great idea for the show to capitalize on its success by sharing a little bit on the love with the less fortunate. But the show was over hyped with stars, most who only appeared for a few seconds on video clips.
I guess I was expecting the level of quality that the finale shows bring and I was let down.
It was nice to see former Idols Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood singing. These women are incredible singers and their success gives the show validation.
And then there was Ryan Seacrest’s “shocking results,” that no one would be eliminated but the next week on May 2, two people would go home after the two weeks votes were combined.
Umm, what? Two people leaving, come on, why couldn’t one have been sent home? So my predictions are that LaKisha Jones, Chris Richardson and Phil Stacey will be the next three people to leave, two of course having left on May 2 and another one the week after that. Melinda Doolittle, Jordin Sparks and Blake Lewis will be the top three.
Then it comes down to who performs best and who finds songs that suit them and then can relate that to their fans.
Personally, I am now rooting for Jordin, who just keeps getting better and better.
On May 22, the top two Idols will compete for the crown and the winner will be announced on May 23 following what promises to be another all-star extravaganza of a finale show.
