The 16th Annual IVCC Job Fair will be April 12 with the
theme of “Jazz up Your Job.” The event will be in the Lower Gym from noon until
6 p.m. and will attract around 80 employers seeking employees to fit their
needs.
The Job Fair is open to anyone looking for a part-time,
full-time, or seasonal job. Also students get information about a specific job
or career field.
Sharon Barthelemy, coordinator of career services, recommends
job-seekers bring up to 10 copies of their resumes. Applications for jobs will
also be available to fill out. “The whole thing is you selling yourself to
employers and you want to dress for success,” says Barthelemy. “You want to make
yourself stand out.”
Career Services sends out applications to over 400 different
employers. The employers are also screened to make sure they are eligible to
come to the fair.
The jobs offered are real jobs that are targeted for helping
students in their academic field of study, Barthelemy said. A list of employees
who will attend the Job Fair are available on the Career Services home page.
Students who might interview for jobs in other venues may
consider attending an Etiquette Dinner, scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, March 22
at the Uptown Bar and Grill in La Salle.
This is the first year the dinner has been scheduled. The
cost of the dinner will be subsidized by Student Government, but students who
attend still must pay a $15 fee. Reservations are due March 15.
