Einhaus loses election bid

IVCC student and Oglesby mayor hopeful Jimmy Einhaus met
defeat in the Feb. 27 primary election. Einhaus opposed incumbent Jerry Scott,
commissioner Tony Torres and previous mayoral candidate Don Finley.
Torres and Finley will go on the ballot in the general
election with 33 and 36 percent of the votes, respectively. Scott, the oldest
candidate, and Einhaus, the youngest, were ousted.
The results of this election make a fine statement by the
people of Oglesby—they do not want a representative too old, nor too young, to
lead the town.
Einhaus has decided to use this experience as a lesson
learned. “I’ve found that every person has their own different role in an
election,” he said. “Mine was to increase awareness of troubles in Oglesby
politics.”
Einhaus has no intention of changing his plan to pursue
politics due to the election results.
