Strategies For College represents a good strategy

Recently while registering for my final semester at IVCC I
reflected upon the classes I have taken and the impact they have had on my
educational experience — the classes and instructors I loved and the class that
stresses me out.
Strategies for College is a class I took my first semester
that had a very positive impact on me. This class was not required but was
suggested since I am a nontraditional student. I didn’t see the point back then,
but I certainly do now.
It is a class that helped me become a better student by
reintroducing study habits and helping me to decipher the best way in which I
learn. This information can be very helpful when deciding what types of classes
to take, i.e.… lecture, lab or online.
Trust me, if you are a hands-on learner who needs to be in
the class, an online class is not for you. Being aware of that type of
information can definitely impact your overall educational experience.
It also helped me find my voice. What I mean by that is that
through assignments, journals and class participation I became aware of my
strengths and weakness and was taught ways to better myself not only through
education, but personally as well.
So here’s a thought: although Strategies for College may not
be required for your degree, there are many benefits to taking it. When it comes
time for you to register for classes, seriously consider it.
Talk to an instructor or a fellow student who has taken the
class. You just might be glad you did.
